Ryken Care is a new range of skin care products specifically for men.
Ryken is a word of Germanic origin and means ‘free spirited man’, ‘champion’, ‘warrior’. It was important that the design reflected the origin of the word as the brand’s vision is to be a community driven brand to run events that support men’s mental health and alongside this to help men feel more confident about their skin.
Based on these values, a word mark and symbol was explored based on a triksele symbol inferring these values and frequently found on warrior and heraldic shields. It symbolises movement, enthusiasm, dynamism, opposing what is fixed and deemed right in life.
The symbol comprises of 3 parts (legs), which also represent an infinite knot device and represent the 3 pillars of the brand which are grooming, skin care and bath & body.
The packaging design was developed to ensure range consistency across multiple formats and aninitial range of 7 products across 4 size formats were developed as artwork.
